Jack Robert Young Memorial Foundation (IRS 502 3C)

The Jack Robert Young Memorial Foundation was established in memory of Donna and Robert Young’s son, Jack, who they lost to meningitis as an infant. The foundation spearheaded and principally funded “Jack’s Friendship Garden,” a handicap accessible playground located at the corner of Eastchester Road and North Avenue in New Rochelle. The Partnership for the Huguenot Children’s Library and the City of New Rochelle played important supporting roles, as did many individuals who donated their time and money to the project. Built almost entirely with private funds, “Jack’s Friendship Garden” represents one of the largest gifts ever given to the people of New Rochelle, and the playground offers state-of-the-art play equipment and was just one of two handicap-accessible playgrounds in Westchester County at the time of the dedication.
